Learn From The Smartest Millionaire Minds in Business

Are You a Victim in Need of a Success Mindset?

If you believe you are a victim, you can't even begin to consider developing a success mindset geared toward riches, unless you understand that you have full responsibility for your own finances.

Harv Eker, the well-known author of Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, elaborates on many relatable aspects based in the psychology of wealth in his book.

A point that he drives passionately is how different mindsets lead to different results, which is explored here.

The Victim Mindset

According to Harv, not all break-ups are a loss and in fact, breaking up with unsupportive habits, patterns, behaviors, and viewpoints is the game-changer you're looking for.

You are in charge of your success, much like you are in charge of your failures or mediocrity, he says.

Too many people who have not yet made their fortune tend to take the role of a victim.

Victims think "Why can’t I succeed?" or "Poor me!" or even "My family are to blame by not being rich!" and if you think about it, this pattern of thinking is exactly what keeps 'victims' stuck in a cycle of being poor, he adds.

Even more worrying, they are not usually victims at all but simply want to take up your attention and energy, Harv warns.

3 Types of Victims in the Money Game

You may not have a victim mentality, but perhaps you know someone who does.

How can you identify the victims?

Harv says it is easy to recognize a victim mentality once you understand the three main types of victims that exis:.

Victim Type #1: The Blamer

According to Harv, a huge number of people who float around with not much financial luck are good at playing the blame game.

These victims use as many people and circumstances as possible to blame for their ‘misfortune’.

Their parents, their childhoods, their lack of opportunity… all of these are 'to blame' for their own lack of success.

Blamers, says Harv, are very destructive, as they will always find blame that can be placed outside of themselves.

Some may even blame the government, their spouses, their broker, or the economy.

Victim Type #2: The Justifier

This type of victim, Harv says, tends to justify or rationalize their absence of success by saying "Money is not a big deal anyway".

This is not only complete madness, according to Harv, but it's also usually a sign of someone who doesn’t have money.

Harv believes that if you do not think that money is important, then you won’t have any.

It is as simple as that!

Successful people have learned this early on – you will never hear them saying that money is not important.

They also understand that if you wish to achieve anything, you will require money at some point, he adds.

This is a fundamental part of becoming wealthy and having the 'right' mindset, Harv insists.

Victim Type #3: The Complainer

The next type of victim that Harv mentions, he describes as someone who uses complaining to avoid dealing with the real issues at stake – wallowing in self-pity and never taking responsibility for their ability to succeed.

Whether you believe it or not, when you focus on going after what you desire, you're more likely to get it, Harv argues.

Complainers do not consider this which generally compounds their problems.

Complainers, according to Harv, are also more likely to suck other people into their misery, and for those on a path to real change, this can be dangerous.

Your problems will cease to matter, and he adds that their problems will always be the biggest in the world.

From Victimhood to Success Mindset

When all is said and done, blame, justification, and complaining are much like self-medicating to reduce the stress of failure, Harv asserts.

If any of these victims were not failing in some way, they probably wouldn’t need to blame, justify, or complain, would they?

If you fall into one of these victim patterns, Harv urges you to stop what you are doing right now.

The most essential part of changing your current financial status, Harv says, is to understand that you create your own life, and you create every moment in it...

And with these moments that you create, you are either attracting success or difficulty into your life.

This means that you need to choose your thoughts carefully to ensure that you are attracting the RIGHT thoughts.

practice & exercise

Here's something Harv suggests you do if you find yourself having thoughts of a victim.

From today, why not make a commitment to a full week of freedom from experiencing victim mode?

For each of those seven days, instead of taking the easy ‘victim’ route, focus your thoughts on success, action and positivity, and you may just find that you are attracting better things into your life.

Conclusion: To Your Victory

Since mindset is the key to success, who wouldn't want to adopt a success mindset?

Once you realize that you’re in the driver’s seat of your life, you start to understand that only you can change the direction of your journey.

Getting stuck is not the problem.

Staying stuck is.

So get yourself unstuck.
